Different Types of Dog Collars
A zillion years and pets later, I finally bought my dogs their very own collar. I mean they have harnesses for when I walk them, but they’ve never had a collar (only the flea defender ones). Why? I don’t know. I guess I never thought that they were necessary before, but now that I’ve finally purchased them, my dogs look freakin’ handsome and they go exceptionally well with their snazzy, pawsh Pet I.D. Speaking of collars, I just found out that there are at least nine different kinds of collars out there. They include the following:
- Buckle Collars
- Quick Release Collars
- Break Away Collars
- Slip Collars
- Choke Chains
- Prong or Pinch Collars
- Head Halters
- Electronic Collars
My idea of the ideal collar combo includes a regular Buckle Collar and a Harness. The Buckle collar would serve as their tag holder and “necklace” if you will. The Harness would serve the purpose of walking them.
The Electronic Collars just don’t sound too pleasant for me and the choke/slip collars seem quite inhumane somehow. Seriously, would you really want to put this on your dog?
I may not be the most knowledgable person out there when in comes to collars, but this is obviously cruel to me. UNLESS, you’re trained to use them. So please make sure you know that you’re suitable to handle your dog with these products. They’re not for every human-dog family. Research. Research. Research.
