Dog Killing Artist Awarded $750,000 Contract

I am no art connoisseur so my opinion may not mean much when it comes to art.

So if I were asked, “it this art”?

I’d say, yeap, looks like it.

“How about this one”?

Sure. Why not?

But what bout this?

That I would say, “it’s up to each individual’s interpretation”.

Now, what if the piece of art actually showed the after picture of the dog getting shot fatally?

Is that art?

Unfortunately, that’s what Tom Otterness thought.

Tom is a world famous sculptor, for having created large and “cartoonish” looking sculptures that wow people, such as the “Herring Eater” in the Netherlands:

and the cute little Wall Street figurines in few New York City subway stations.

However

Little did people know, when he was 25, he adopted a dog from the shelter, only to shoot in its head and filming it on CAMERA in name of “art”.

Name of the movie?

“Shot Dog Film”

Fast forward to 2011.. what was Tom getting?

A $750,000 to display his art work in San Francisco (which got postponed indefinitely):

Now, like most of dog lovers out there, I am f*cking PISSED.

Yet at the same time, that was a long time ago.

Like loyal dogs who give unconditional love, should we as dog lovers forgive this man and let him have his artwork displayed for millions to see?

What do you think?

Just one look at the dogs eyes tells just how terrified he is. It sickens me that this poor dog thought he was getting rescued by a loving person. That would care for him and give him a home. Instead he was killed. To call the video art is absolutly appalling. I’m sucken by people more and more everyday. Until mankind realizes that animals deserve love, we surely are headed to hell. God forgive us.

NO WAY IN HELL IS THIS ART!!!!!! poor dog. Who knows what kind of life the dog had before he went to the shelter. Then got adopted thinking it would have a better life. Then BOOM killed in the name of art. I DON’T THINK SO!!!!! This guy is not an artist. I don’t care if he’s done sculptures i will never apreachate his art. Humm i bet he wouldn’t be willing to have someone put and gun to his head and shoot him in the name of art, so why did he think it was ok for him to do it to a poor dog. UGH this is the reason i hate most people

That’s not art it’s murder. Not sure what can be done about it from a legal standpoint, but he should not profit from it or receive any positive attention, especially from his peers. Pushing boundaries, to explore society’s discomfort with topical issues, should not be done in a way that violates any living organisms right to exist.
