Dog Surfing Competition Raises Cool $100,000

Dog surfing – a joke right?

Wrong. It’s big! REALLY big.

It’s so big, in fact, that over 4,000 visitors flocked to the 5th annual Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon in southern California to watch over 80 dogs surf.

Result? Over $100,000 was raised for orphaned animals and working dogs including police dogs, search and rescue dogs, and service dogs.

Who won?

Buddy. A 14-year-old Jack Russell Terrier. (That’s 98 in human years)

Here are some pictures of the dog contestants:

Wow, and I thought skateboarding dogs were amazing.

Here’s a short clip of a similar dog surfing event, also held this year in southern california.

(Yeah, LA people are nuts. Trust me. I’m one of them. Sorta.)
