Neuticles – WHY?
In response to Rose’s post about whether or not we should neuter our dogs, a friend of mine mentioned a product called “neuticles”. A neuticle is basically a nut replacement for neutered male dogs.
Ok, before anyone gets too judgemental, take a deep breath.
This is by far the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen produced by the mankind for the dogkind. This is beyond pampering your dog to a laughable level. Why on earth would a neutered male dog need replacement testicles?
To be fair, I checked out their website which says:
Neuticles allows your pet to retain his natural look, self esteem and aids in the trauma associated with neutering.
I didn’t know dogs’ self esteem goes down when their testicles are chopped.
Ok. Ridculous, right? Who’d buy this stuff? (But then again, who’d buy personlized collar tags that look like driver’s licenses?) Apparently, 280,000 people did, according to Wikipedia:
Miller states he has sold more than 280,000 pair of the product in 49 countries.
Two years later the first commercially Neuticled pet was implanted. Worldwide publicity followed and interest continues to this day. According to their website, over 230,000 pets have received Neuticle implants since they became available in 1995.
Wow. Now I think i’ve REALLY seen it all.
If you’re amazed by this, you’re not the only one:
This is just NUTS.
