Dear Margaret,

I had to let my beautiful brittany, Cody, go two and a half years ago.

It was the hardest thing I have ever done but he was suffering and I knew it would not get better.

When the vet did the procedure Cody looked up into my eyes and was very lucid for that moment and I believe he was thanking me.

It was very fast and he simply relaxed and was gone.

There was not trauma….except to my heart…..and the vets.

I believe it would have been selfish for me to try to keep him longer because it was too hard for me to make the decision.

His suffering would not have helped me to feel better and if I had let him go on I have no doubt that I would feel guilty about it now.

Only you can decide what is right for you and your dog.

I can only share with you what was right for me and mine.

My thoughts are with you as you struggle with this decision.

It is the ultimate responsibility when we choose to bring these wonderful animals into our families.

Stephanie and Cody from Oregon
